Char Dham Yatra - Sacred Himalayan Pilgrimage

Char Dham Yatra

A Sacred Journey to the Four Holy Shrines of Uttarakhand

What is Char Dham Yatra?

The Char Dham Yatra is a sacred pilgrimage undertaken by Hindus to the four holy shrines of Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath, all located in Uttarakhand. This revered journey is also known as the "Chota Char Dham."

Two of these shrines, Yamunotri and Gangotri, mark the spiritual origins of the holy rivers Yamuna and Ganga, where pilgrims seek to cleanse themselves of sins. The other two, Kedarnath and Badrinath, are dedicated to the supreme deities of Hinduism — Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu, respectively.

In Hindu tradition, a pilgrimage, known as a "teerth yatra," holds immense significance. It is believed that every devotee should undertake such a journey at least once in their lifetime to attain spiritual liberation — freedom from the cycle of birth and death.
